Indo-Naga solution: NSF reminds Modi to keep his word
Kohima, March 7 (EMN): The NSF on Tuesday organised a peaceful demonstration in Kohima upon the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding him to “keep” his “word” in ensuring a solution to the vexed Naga political issue.
Members of the apex student body displayed placards and banners at strategic points including the Naga Students’ Federation Marty’s Park, located in front of the swearing-in ceremony venue. Besides that, it was also held in Old MLA Junction and Phoolbari.
NSF informed that their main intention was to demand the Central government to be serious and show utmost sincerity in their approach towards ensuring that an inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue is arrived at the earliest.
The demonstration was also to remind the newly-elected representatives of the people to be mindful of the aspirations of the Naga people, to put in more serious efforts as facilitators and not use the genuine and legitimate Naga political issue as a mere political gambit.
“To openly tell the Naga negotiators that the Naga youths and student community are yearning for lasting peace across the Naga homeland and that the generations which will inherit the solution shall no longer tolerate the division within themselves”, NSF said about the demonstration.
Federating units and subordinate bodies participated and supported the demonstration, it added.
