India’s active Covid-19 cases breach 10-lakh mark

Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): Covid-19 cases continue to surge in India for 31 consecutive days, recording 1,45,384 fresh cases and  794 deaths in the last 24 hours. The country’s active caseload now stands at 10,46,631, tally at 1,32,05,926 and total deaths at 1,68,436.

The Union Health Ministry updated that 10 states — Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan – account for 82.82% of the new cases.

Maharashtra reported highest daily new cases at 58,993, followed by Chhattisgarh with 11,447 and Uttar Pradesh with 9,587. The Health Ministry went on to state that 10 states account for 86.78% of the new deaths with Maharashtra leading with 301 casualties and Chhattisgarh, 91.

The country also registered 77,567 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,19,90,859 at 90.80% recovery rate.

The ministry went on to inform that 9,80,75,160 vaccine doses have been administered through 14,75,410 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Saturday.
