Indian Politics: At the Stage of Valuelessness

Countless great men of India have endured countless tortures and sacrificed everything for the sake of values, dignity and principles in politics. The current politics of that country is moving at the speed of a bullet train towards complete ideological moral decline and has reached the pinnacle of principlelessness. The minimum democratic values, dignity and traditions have been tied up in a pot and kept locked in a dusty cupboard of some black room. This decline can be seen at the level of both leaders and general public. Ethics in politics means running the state as per the policy, but today the definition of policy in politics has changed. The aim of politics seems to be to shamelessly grab power by any means and arrange royal pleasures for ourselves and our future generations.

If we look at the present times, sensitivity and morality are continuously decreasing in politics. The level of politics is at its lowest. The level of politics has not fallen; the level of people doing politics is falling. Today, the new record of falling political level in the country is of Arvind Kejriwal, born out of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, who has set a new record by demolishing all the norms of corruption and low level politics. AAP’s chief in jail in a corruption case and is running the government of Delhi state from jail itself, which can be called the height of immorality. The fallacy is that it is not written anywhere in the Constitution that the government cannot be run from jail. His entire politics is based on portraying others as corrupt and himself as staunchly honest. The makers of the Constitution would never have imagined that today’s political leaders could stoop to such a low. Lalu Prasad Yadav is miles behind him. Mamata Banerjee’s action on the heinous rape and murder of a doctor’s daughter in Kolkata shows decadent politics and insensitivity. Criticism is an integral part of politics, but the era of healthy criticism is now over. SP, VSP, and especially Congress leaders have crossed all limits of linguistic propriety. Healthy politics can be expected from the BJP, but their leaders also cross linguistic limits on many occasions. Some people sitting in the ruling establishment also do not pay attention to decorum before speaking.

The low level of disgusting politics that has started in India is worth regretting. A more serious issue is that the ruling party concerned seems to be protecting its leader. Leaders only want the progress of their own family. If we look at the history of famous leaders in the country, we will come to know that nepotism has completely dominated politics in our country. This is the result of the same thinking in which leaders want to see only their own family members in their places. Such people have made politics a business. In brief, the restoration of political values is more necessary in the present times.
