Round 4 of Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) 2022 - Rally of Nagaland hosted by Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC) was flagged off by Advisor of Youth Resource and Sports, Zale Neikha, at Indira Gandhi Stadium on Thursday.

The rally will be held from January 12 to the 14th in partnership with the Government of Nagaland.

The championship will be held at two routes in Kohima covering a distance of 120 km - Jotsoma to Dzülekie NEC road on January 13 and Kohima bye-pass road connecting IG Stadium on January 14.

The rally will commence at 6 am on both days. A total of 80 drivers and co-drivers from across the country will participate in the event.

It is being organised by the Federation of Motor Sports Council of India (FMSCI) with Blueband Sports as the promoter.

Some prominent riders participating in the rally included Gaurav Gill, Karna Kadur, Aditya Thakur, Fabid Ahmer and Chetan Shivram.

Earlier, NAC informed the event ticket is fixed at INR 2000 per car and they would be allocated particular space as the rally goes on the routes.

The round one of the INRC commenced in April 2022 at Chennai, then at Coimbatore and Bangalore for round two and three respectively. It is being organised for the second time in the Northeast with Arunachal Pradesh organising the first in the North-eastern part of India.

‘The Round 4 staging here at Nagaland is one of the significant events for the lovers of motorsports,’ Neikha said during the inaugural start.

He said the rally is a ‘great opportunity’ for the young budding talents from the state to get a fully-equipped rally car, a fully-equipped mechanic team and all complete sponsored drive into the National Championship. He urged the sport lovers to take advantage of the experienced people present here.

‘Motor sport is not just a sport but promotes safety measures for vehicles and drivers. It ensures the production of more durable vehicles and accessories, testing driver and vehicle ability in extreme and adverse road conditions, boosting the confidence of a driver. It also attracts foreign tourism and increases tourism revenue and creates a sense of unity through teamwork,’ he shared.

The advisor expressed hope that NAC will continue to promote motor sporting and put Nagaland on the motor sporting map of the country with the support of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India.

NAC Convener Peter Rutsa, while welcoming drivers from across the country, said the NAC would not have hosted the event without the support of all the motor clubs and adventurers. He added that Nagaland has been supportive of any activity that has to do with the youth and tourism.

“One thing we can guarantee that will go out of our way to make you comfortable and make you visit and stay as pleasant as possible”, he told the riders.

Chief promoter of Blueband Sports, Premnath Kasinath said that he got a lot of support from the government to organise the rally in the state, ‘which is not the case in other states’. He also opined that the people are hospitable and pleasant while adding that the event will only grow bigger in the coming days.
