Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): Union Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs, V Muralidharanji has said that the Naga political issue is at a very crucial juncture and that the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “very keen to bring the decades-old Naga issue to a logical conclusion”.

Muralidharanji said this while addressing the first executive virtual rally meeting of Nagaland State BJP Unit for the tenure 2020-2023, on August 29 at The Heritage in Kohima, informed an update from the party on Wednesday.

The Union minister also highlighted some landmark achievements and progress on the Naga political issue under the leadership of Modi, like ‘signing of the Frame Work Agreement between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) on August 3 in 2015; and the agreement signed with the Naga National Political Groups (NNPG) on November 17, 2017’.

The house also adopted party and political resolution led by state BJP vice president Kevidezo Peter Rutsa at the meeting, it informed.

The house resolved to reaffirm its stand towards realising an early political solution to the Naga political issue, a solution that is “inclusive, acceptable and honourable, keeping in mind the history and political rights of the people”. It also appreciated the parties — NSCN (IM) and Working Committee of NNPG – involved in the talks with the government of India for taking the peace process thus far.

It stated that “the PDA (People’s Democratic Alliance) government, of which the BJP is an integral partner, plays the role of an active facilitator to the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiations.”

The house also resolved to continue its fight against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the state and the country, as well as follow Modi’s vision towards a self-reliant India by actively promoting local manufacturing of various essential products.

The BJP Nagaland State Unit also resolved to stand with the commitment of pre-poll alliance of the PDA with the National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) which was edged under the leadership of Modi, Home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda.
