Dimapur, Oct. 15 (EMN): The government of India and the NSCN (Reformation) have extended ceasefire agreement for six more months.

A press release from the NSCN (R) on Thursday informed that the ‘ceasefire extension’ was signed at the CFMG/CFSB office in Kohima on October 15.

The existing agreement was set to expire on October 27, it informed.

“Both parties maintained that, whatever political negotiation or process is going on between the GoI and NPGs is one thing, yet, continuing to upholding whatever necessities or procedures are at hand ought to be maintained too, and for which the CF extension which was due to expire on 27th Oct. 2020 was necessitated, in order to promote ‘Peace’ in the region and also to pave way for the smooth functioning of the ‘Political Journey’ between the GoI and NSCN,” the statement read.

“Both parties also agreed in principle to continue to uphold the sanctity of the laid down CFGR and to keep check on any lapses that may arise from either sides of the NSCN or the Security Forces, for the simple reason that, the ‘Hard Earned Peace’ cannot be compromised or derailed at any cost,” it added.
