Indian Building Congress’ 84th seminar underway at Guwahati
Dimapur, Jan. 5: A two-day technical seminar about innovative technologies in built environment was inaugurated by Rajen Gohain, the minister of State for Railways January 5 morning at Guwahati.
The event was organized by the Indian Buildings Congress and NF Railway (Construction).
Addressing the delegates, Rajen Gohain mentioned about the challenges facing the sector, and that of maintaining a sustainable lifestyle, a press release from the organizers on Thursday stated. He remarked that designs inspired by the nature can play a significant role in the future of the built environment.
“Innovative techniques and smart technologies can change the way we use the built environment. He emphasized to explore how local materials and natural resources can be utilized to economize the cost of structures especially for economically poor sections of society,” the press release stated.
During the occasion, Dr D. N Buragohain, founder director of the IIT of Guwahati, who delivered the keynote address, highlighted the various issues concerning the development of built spaces in north east region, Guwahati city in particular. He appealed to the eminent engineers from participating departments to suggest ways and means to improve the built environment in Guwahati.
Indian Buildings Congress is a non-governmental body promoting innovative technology and materials in construction of buildings and infrastructure. The organization is continuously striving to bring all professionals connected with built environment on a single platform through interface between architects, engineers and other building professionals from private and public sectors.
The seminar will be followed by the 84th meeting of Governing Council of IBC on the 6th of January.
