The Indian Army's 3 Engineer Regiment recovers submerged IAF firefighting equipment from lake in Purana Bazar, Dimapur, enabling Dzükou Valley operations.

DIMAPUR — A search and recovery team from the Indian Army recovered Indian Air Force (IAF) firefighting equipment from a lake in Purana Bazar, Dimapur, on Monday.
According to a press release, the IAF had deployed helicopters to control a forest fire in Dzükou Valley.
In an attempt to fetch water from the lake using 'Bambi' equipment, the device reportedly snapped and sank into the lake bed on the evening of January 31.

Assistance was sought from the Spear Corps at Rangapahar Military Station. In a swift action, a search and recovery team from the 3 Engineer Regiment was deployed during the dark hours to conduct a reconnaissance and preparation of the site to enable the recovery of the equipment.
The release stated that the 'Bambi' is a 2-metre-long piece of equipment which got submerged inside the 62,500 square metre lake while the fire was spreading in the forest.
‘After 12-hours of strenuous and meticulous searching, the equipment was recovered with the help of modern equipment and thorough planning,’ the release stated.
The recovery resulted in the continuation of firefighting operations.
