Indian Army desperate to score points over us — NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): The NSCN (I-M) has accused the Indian security forces of spreading propaganda against it, describing the latter’s claim of busting its camp at Todaijang village in Manipur as a desperate attempt to “score points over NSCN by presenting their fabricated version.”

“Such a manner of inventing propaganda against NSCN will never go far to give a winning point to the Indian security forces. Quoting the residents of Todaijang and nearby villages as if they have come out shouting against NSCN will only go towards establishing the ground reality where security forces are in the habit of forcing words into the mouths of the local residents to justify their action against NSCN,” read the statement issued by the group.

The NSCN (I-M) stated it is very unfortunate that the security forces have undermined the sentiment of the villagers who have developed deep attachment with the Indo-Naga political issue, longing for peace to come soon.
“It is beyond imagination for the Indian Army to target the NSCN cadres as sitting ducks. Vigilant as they are, NSCN cadres are swift to act without leaving anything behind. Uniforms seized by Indian Army belong to local hunters. The Indian Army seized one licensed gun from the hut which belongs to a hunter.

“The hunter’s plea by proving his bonafide identity and as the owner of the gun was blatantly sidelined by the police and the army. The arms displayed by security forces do not belong to NSCN. This is Indian Army’s typical style of presenting their scoring points against NSCN,” read the statement.

The group stated that contrary to the claims of the Indian Army, the civil society organisations of Nungba areas had come out strongly against the security forces for dismantling three huts in the paddy field at Mongjarong Khullen (Taodaijang) village, Nungba Sub-Division under Tamenglong district on may 25. It added that the security forces used three locals, including minors as human shield to escort them to the paddy fields, suspecting that its cadres used the huts located there.

“The CSOs of the area have expressed strong displeasure against the security forces, questioning their style of conduct that shows scant respect for the local sentiments violating their human rights as well. They pointedly said that such an act of arrogance and high-handedness will only create a feeling of insecurity, loss of faith, mental harassment and will only leads to non-cooperation from the public against the Indian security forces,” it added.
