India skills competition Nagaland concludes

Dimapur, May 20 (EMN): The four day ‘India skills competition Nagaland 2018’ concluded with a grand finale held at Mhachaki in Kohima on May 19.
The programme was organised by the directorate of Employment, Skill development and Entrepreneurship Nagaland in collaboration with event partner Synergy groups enterprise. Update on Sunday informed.
The India Skills Competition Nagaland 2018 was stated to have been funded by the National Skill Development Corporation, a public& and private partnership company with the mandate of catalysing the skill landscape in India.
Commissioner and Secretary Anenla T Ao in her speech thanked the organiser for taking the initiative in organising such event and making it a successful one.
She pointed out that due to lack of proper infrastructure, Nagaland is struggling and unable to succeed like other states.
Ao remarked that Nagaland government should organise more events and give training to people specially to younger generation. She encouraged the participants to grab the opportunity and even take it up as their profession. She urged the younger generation to spread their wings and venture on the things that interest them and make the state proud by their success stories.
Northeast region analyst of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Zimik said, ‘youth of north eastern states have lot of potentials and such events gives them the right platform to showcase their skills’. Encouraging the participants, he said that this is just the beginning of the competition and the winners still have regional, national, and world level to showcase their talent and skills.
The NSDC will continue to support in organising such events financially as well as technically, Zimmi said. He added that the next competition should be from the grassroot level starting from district andsState level so as to bring out the untapped talent from all corners of the state.
He also informed that so far four North Eastern states such as Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam, and Tripura had organised this event.
The participants showcase their skills in cooking and patisserie or confectionery
In cooking category, the winner was bagged by Sentienla Kichu, while the first, and second runners up won by Begum Apchana and Mengukhrielie respectively. In patisserie or confectionery category, the winner was Vikhonuo Hibo, followed by Renphamo Ezung in the first runner up and Keneiseinuo Kere in the second runner up.
The winners walked away with certificate and a cash award of INR 25000, INR 15000, and INR 10000 each, and two days training at the Exotic School of Cooking. All participants were also given a cash of INR 2000 each.
The winners of India Skills will get a chance to represent India at the world skills Kazan in Russia, 2019 and at the national level in Bhubaneswar in June, 2018.
The panels of judges for the competition were Rovi Chasie, Aien Jamir, Alemjungla Jamir, Joel Basumatari, and Chenti Phom.
