India reports world’s highest one-day rise with 3.14 lakh new Covid-19 cases

Dimapur, April 22 (EMN):
India reported a hike of more than three lakh new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, which is the highest single-day rise anywhere in the world, and second only to the United States in the total number of cases at 1,59,30,965 (about 1.59 crore).

The data provided by the Union Health ministry stated that the country recorded 3,14,835 (about 3.14 lakh) fresh Covid-19 cases and 2,104 deaths in the last 24, as the country grapples with the second wave which is said to have overwhelmed healthcare facilities in many states.

The country’s active caseload has increased to 22,91,428 following continuous rise in new cases for several days now, and the death roll has increased to 184,657 at 1.16% mortality rate.

As many as 1,78,841 Covid patients also recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,34,54,880 at 84.46% recovery rate.

India has also administered13,23,30,644 (about 13.23 crore) vaccine doses through 19,28,118 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Thursday. A total of 22,11,334 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, according to Health ministry data.
