India records highest single-day new Covid-19 cases; 3498 deaths reported

Dimapur, April 30 (EMN):
India recorded highest single-day Covid-19 cases with 3,86,452 new infections registered in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s tally to 1,87,62,976, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The country’s active caseload now stands at 31,70,228 with 10 States — Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan – accounting for 73.05%.

Maharashtra reported the highest daily new cases at 66,159 in the last 24 hours, followed by Kerala with 38,607 and Uttar Pradesh with 35,104, the ministry updated.

India also reported 3,498 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 2,08,330 till date at 1.11% mortality rate.

Ten States account for 77.44% of the new deaths with Maharashtra reporting the maximum casualties (771), followed by Delhi follows with 395.

A total of 2,97,540 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,53,84,418 at 81.99% recovery rate. 

As many as 15,22,45,179 vaccine doses have been administered through 22,43,097 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Friday.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also updated that the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) is operating a toll free 24 x 7 helpline (080-4611 0007) to address issues regarding mental health and provide psychosocial support during the pandemic.
