Dimapur, May 7 (EMN): India recorded 4,14,188 (about 4.14 lakh) new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s active caseload to 36,45,164 ( about 36.45 lakh) and tally to 2,14,91,598 (about 2.14 crore), according to the date provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday.
The update informed that 10 States including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan account for 71.81% of the new cases with Maharashtra leading at 62,194; followed by Karnataka at 49,058 and Kerala at 42,464.
In terms of fatality, 3,915 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 2,34,083 so far at 1.09% mortality rate. Ten States account for 74.48% of the new deaths with maximum casualties being reported in Maharashtra (853), followed by Uttar Pradesh (350).
The country also registered 3,31,507 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1,76,12,351.
The Ministry also informed that a total of 16,49,73,058 (about 16.49 crore) vaccine doses have been administered through 24,11,300 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Friday.
