India records 3.66 lakh new Covid-19 cases, 3754 deaths in one day

Dimapur, May 10 (EMN): India recorded 3,66,161 (about 3.66 lakh) new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s active caseload to 37,45,237 (about 37.45 lakh) and tally to 22,662,575 (about 2.26 crore), according to the date provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Out of the new cases, 10 states account for 73.91% with Maharashtra at 48,401, followed by Karnataka at 47,930 and Kerala at 35,801. Meanwhile, a net incline of 8,589 cases was recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.

The country registered 3,754 deaths, taking the country’s death toll to 246,116 at 1.09% national mortality rate. Ten States account for 72.86% of the new deaths with Maharashtra registering maximum casualties (572), followed by Karnataka at 490 daily deaths.

India also registered 3,53,818 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative figures to 1,86,71,222 at 82.39% recovery rate.

In terms of vaccination, a total of 17,01,76,603 vaccine doses have been administered through 24,70,799 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Monday.

The Union Health ministry also updated that “6,738 oxygen concentrators, 3,856 oxygen cylinders, 16 oxygen generation plants, 4,668 ventilators/ Bi PAP/ C PAP and more than 3L Remdesivir vials received as part of global aid to India have been delivered/ dispatched to States and UTs to augment and supplement their infrastructure, so far”.

“The Union Government is ensuring that the global aid is being expeditiously delivered to States and UTs through fast custom clearances, and use of air and road,” it added.
