India ranks number 1 for global mobile game downloads

India achieved the top rank for global mobile game downloads across the App Store and Google Play Store in June 2022. From the global total of 4.6 billion downloads, India managed to accumulate 844.8 million installs, or 18.4 per cent of total worldwide downloads.

According to a report by data analytics company, Sensor Tower, India is the No. 1 market for global mobile game downloads followed by the US at second place and Brazil in third.

The report says that Subway Surfers from Sybo Games was the most downloaded mobile game worldwide for June 2022 with more than 26 million installs. Garena Free Fire from Garena managed to take the second place with 24.7 million installs. The rest of the top five included Stumble Guys from Kitka GamesBridge Race from Supersonic Studios, and Dessert DIY from Crazy Labs.

It may be mentioned that Garena Free Fire was among the list of 54 apps that the government of India banned earlier this year. However, the developer launched another version of the game called Free Fire Max and it is available for Indian players on Google Play Store.

In another report by Sensor Tower, Tencent’s Honor of Kings was the top grossing mobile game worldwide for June 2022 with approximately $238.2 million in player spending. Genshin Impact from miHoYo was the second highest earning mobile game worldwide for June 2022 with $154 million in gross revenue. PUBG Mobile from Tencent, Pokémon GO from Niantic and Candy Crush Saga from King rounded out the rest of the top five.

The US took the top spot for global mobile gaming revenue in June 2022 with $1.8 billion, or 28.4 per cent of the total $6.4 billion player spending across the App Store and Google Play in June 2022. Japan took the second place followed by China in third.
