Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast normal to above normal minimum temperatures over many parts of northwest India and most parts of northeast India between March and May.
It updated that gradual rise in maximum temperatures is likely over most parts of the country during March 17-23; above normal by 2-4 °C expected over many parts of northwest, central, east, northeast India and north Peninsular.
The IMD updated that the average rainfall in March over the country is most likely to be normal (83-117% of Low Pressure Area); below normal rainfall likely over most areas of northwest and central India and some parts of northeast, and above normal rainfall over few parts of east and northeast.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]Thunderstorm activity is likely over northeast and adjoining east India during some days of the week between March 17 and 23, it said.
Dimapur recorded maximum temperature of above 30 °C from March 7 to the 11th and minimum temperature increased from 16.4 °C to 17.4 °C on Friday. The district recorded 33.4 °C temperature with relative humidity at 93% on Friday.
Jalukie in Peren district recorded maximum temperature of 32 °C and relative humidity of 57%m, while Mangkolemba sub-division in Mokokchung district recorded maximum temperature of 31.8 °C with relative humidity at 94%.
