All glory to Almighty God our sustainer. On this historic day, we salute every Naga across the length and breadth. We also pay tribute to the pioneer Nagas, the martyrs and every Naga soul who has given their everything to enable us to be where we are today.
On this solemn occasion, the 79" Independence Day declaration, while celebrating our glorious past, let us reminisce our century-old journey of struggle, sacrifice and hope, and also contemplate as to where we have gone astray.
Our aspiration for free, sovereign and independent Naga nationhood can only be realised by remedying our shortcomings, acknowledgement of our weaknesses, repentance before God and people we have wronged.
Self-righteousness, pride, arrogance and greed has blinded and shortened our vision spiritually, politically and ideologically as people and community.
Without political clarity and ideological integrity, our struggle is only doomed to fail.
A Godless people can never prosper or succeed in her national mission of liberation. We must therefore prioritise spiritual insights in all our national political equation. We must remain steadfast and true to our solemn oath "Nagaland for Christ" in all our endeavours.
So also, we cannot afford to progress as people in isolation or to limit ourselves to narrow confinements of our sole perceived rights in today's interdependent globalised world.
While upholding our "historical and political rights", we must also sync ourselves with the dynamics of the modern geopolitics and fine tune our political strategies accordingly.
The Independence declaration will remain merely a declaration though not without significance unless we actualise it in reality with pragmatic political approach and consensus-based solution.
Let us therefore transcend factional agenda or individual ambition but together as people determine our shared future.
