Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN): Besides the district headquarters, various sub-divisions and towns as well as government establishments in other parts of the state celebrated the 74th Independence Day on
August 15.

Pughoboto: Pughoboto sub-division in Zunheboto district celebrated the Independence Day at ADC office on August 15 wherein the additional deputy commissioner, Pughoboto, Thungchanbemo Tungoe unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the 8 NAP, Naltoqa ‘A’ coy Pughoboto. The national anthem was sung by SAKK.

On behalf of the frontline workers SMO of CHC Pughoboto, Dr. J Hokuqha Sema attended the occasion. Others who attended included heads of offices, PATC chairman Viyikhu Wotsa and others.

The chief guest gave away presentation to SAKK, NAP and DEF police personnel.

Jalukie: Jalukie town in Peren district celebrated the Independence Day at ADC office, Jalukie. It reported that only selected guests were invited to the celebration due to the ongoing pandemic.

ADC Jalukie, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang unfurled the national flag and took the Rastriya Salute with singing of the national anthem.

National flag was also hoisted in all the government and semi-government offices, institutions and private buildings.

Pfutsero: Pfutsero in Phek district celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office compound. ADC Pfutsero, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute. The national anthem was sung by 14th AR D’ Coy, Pfutsero.

Tseminyu: Tseminyu sub-division in Kohima district celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office premises with ADC W Manpai Phom as the special guest. The ADC unfurled the national flag and took salute from 4th NAP ‘B’ coy and DEF Tseminyu led by Havildar Tesilo Rengma.

National flag was hoisted in all the government offices, institutions in Tseminyu town. The celebration was attended by government officials including administrative officers, heads of offices, DBs, and GBs of Tseminyu town.

Chizami: Chizami sub-division in Phek district celebrated the Independence Day at the SDO (C) office premises with Vekuto Vero, SDO (C), Chizami, as the special guest. The SDO (C) unfurled the national flag and took salute from DEF Chizami.

Tening: Tening sub-division in Peren district celebrated the Independence Day at the official residence of the additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Tening town. The ADC Rhosietho Nguori unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute.

The national anthem was sung by all those present at the programme including government officials, police personnel and public leaders.

Meluri: Meluri sub-division in Phek district celebrated the Independence Day at public ground, Meluri town. The special guest and additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Meluri, Temjen Mhuba unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from 5th NAP led by Havildar Pongro Konyak. The function was attended by all head of offices under Meluri sub-division.

Shamator: Shamator sub-division in Tuensang district celebrated the Independence Day with Lankonsen Tsanglao, ADC Shamator, as the chief guest. A DIPR report stated that due to pandemic, the celebration was held with head of departments, administration and few invitees. The national song was sung by the town unit of village guards (VG) Shamator.

Aghunato: Aghunato sub-division in Zunheboto observed the Independence Day at the ADC office complex. The additional deputy commissioner, T Moa Lemtor unfurled the tri-colour while the DBs of Aghunato sung the national anthem.

Medziphema: Medziphema sub-division in Dimapur district celebrated the Independence Day at the local ground, Medziphema town, with the additional deputy commissioner, Medziphema, Thsuvisie Phoji as the chief guest.

The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the parade contingent of 11th NAP (IR) Bn Ruzaphema led by ABSI C Throngok Konyak.

The celebration was attended by heads of the departments.

Chen: Chen sub-division in Mon district celebrated Independence Day at SDO (Civil) office complex, Chen town, with the SDO (C) Chen, Samuel Konyak as the special guest who also unfurled the national flag.

Satakha: Satakha sub-division in Zunheboto district celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office complex, Satakha town. ADC Satakha, T Kiusumong Tikhir unfurled the national flag and also delivered Independence day speech to the gathering. The national anthem was sung by Anganwadi workers.

Wakching: Wakching sub-division in Mon district observed the Independence Day at SDO (C) office complex, Wakching town. Relise Sangtam, SDO (C), unfurled the national flag and took salute from village guard, Wakching. The programme was attended by all the government employees, GBs and DBs and well-wishers.

Tizit: Tizit sub-division in Mon district celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office’s premises. Pakon Phom, ADC Tizit, unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from 6th NAP Tizit parade contingent.

Seyochung: Seyochung sub-division in Tuensang district celebrated Independence Day at the ADC office complex, Seyochung headquarters. The ADC Seyochung, Japheth, unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from VG Seyochung led by the Seyochung area VG commander Nikihe Chishi. All government officers and GBs attended the function.

Changtongya: Changtonya sub-division in Mokokchung district celebrated the Independence Day at the SDO (C) office complex, Chngtongya town with Moakumzuk Tzudir, SDO (C), as the chief quest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took the salute from DEF police station, Changtongya. The Independence Day programme was observed with strict Covid-19 safety protocols.

Aboi: Aboi sub-division in Mon district celebrated the Independence Day at the office premises of the additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Aboi town, with Lithrila Sangtam, EAC Aboi, as the special guest. The special guest unfurled national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute. All the head of departments, DBs, and GBs attended the function.

Naginimora: Naginimora sub-division in Mon district also celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office complex, Naginimora town, with Renabomo Odyuo, ADC Naginimora, as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took Rashtriya salute from ‘A’ coy of the 6 NAP jawans. All heads of office attended the function by maintaining social distancing.

Chozuba: Chozuba sub-division in Phek district celebrated Independence Day at the ADC office complex, Chozuba town, with the additional deputy commissioner, Theodore Yanthan as the chief guest, who also unfurled the national flag.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest highlighted on the challenges and achievements of the government especially in regards to the Covid-19 pandemic in the state. The function was celebrated with minimal participants with full protective gears and social distancing.

Pungro: Pungro sub-division in Kiphire district celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office complex, Pungro town. On the occasion, EAC Pungro Nuhuta Tunyi unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute. The national anthem was sung by the students of Government Middle School, Pungro.

The celebration was attended by government employees, NGOs and CSOs under Pungro sub-division.

Chiephobozou: Chiephobozou sub-division in Kohima district celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office premises, Chiephobozou town, where the additional deputy commissioner, Chiephobozou, Vekhoyi Chakhesang hoisted the national flag and took Rashtriya salute during the occasion. At Jakhama, the national flag was hoisted by SDO (C) Alemyapang Longchar.

Tamlu: Tamlu sub-division in Longleng district celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC office complex, Tamlu town, with the ADC Tamlu Chingak Konyak as the special guest. The special guest unfurled the national flag and delivered the Independence Day speech. The national anthem was sung by the students of Christian English School, Tamlu.

Nagaland House Delhi: Nagaland House in New Delhi celebrated the Independence Day with Mmhonlumo Kikon, advisor of IT and NRE, as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Kikon thanked the Nagaland House team led by ACS and RC Jyoti Kalash for following protocols and helping the Nagas in Delhi from providing rations to sending home through the Shramik train and other special trains. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, the state is well prepared to handle the present pandemic.

Also speaking on the occasion, Jyoti Kalash congratulated the DRC Kethosituo Sekhose and his team of officers and staff for handling the emergency Covid-19 situation with exceptional dedication. He also thanked the team in ensuring that all the positive cases in the campus were handled with care following all protocols.

Blue Vanda: Commemorating the 74th Independence Day celebration, members of Blue Vanda of Lions Club Dimapur visited Ebenezer Orphanage Home and had fellowship with the children. The team was led by Kakheli Zhimomi and Lalita R Kharida.

VWF: Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF) celebrated the Independence Day by distributing food packets to street beggars, who are termed as “Living Narayana”. The day was celebrated within its office vicinity at DMC building and at open space of Dimapur railway station by riding around the city holding the national flag and singing of patriotic songs.

The members also distributed the food packets and water bottle to those needy people sitting at the road side.

The programme ended with a short speech from its member, Arijit Sharma, where he called upon the members to be thankful to those patriots who laid down their lives for the nation. He also urged the youth of the country to take oath and rise in building a better India.

VWF president, Niranjan Saha encouraged the members to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation and be the agent for change.

Leo Club: Leo Club of Dimapur celebrated Independence Day with Lions Club of Hornbill, Lions Club of Japfu and Leo Club of St. Mary’s Dimapur by hoisting the national flag and also planted five tree saplings at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School campus.

The programme was led by Rashika Jain and Pravin Jain under the leadership of Vishal Patni.
