Diphu, Oct. 17 (EMN): Following physical assault being meted out to two of its members in Dimapur on October 16, the Karbi Anglong Sand Supplier Association (KASSA) has called for an indefinite ban on supply of sand to Dimapur with effect from October 17 midnight.
Briefing media persons at its office in Manja on Saturday, KASSA president John Tendon Bey said that the indefinite ban of sand supply to Dimapur has been necessitated unidentified persons assaulted its members namely Michael Terang and Bijoy Daulagaphu in Dimapur on October 16 morning at around 8 am.
KASSA has demanded immediate arrest the culprits involved in the assault and affirmed that the supply of sand to Dimapur would not be lifted until the culprits are arrested.
Bey said that ‘Nagaland sand trucks’ would not be allowed to enter Assam through Karbi Anglong.
The organisation also informed that an FIR has been lodged at Manja police station in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, one of the victims Bijoy Daulagaphu told journalists that on October 16, the organisation had supplied five trucks of sand to Dimapur through one named Ali. He claimed that when they demanded money after unloading the sand, Ali made excuses to wait for hour.
Daulagaphu also claimed that Ali did not pay the full amount for the sand except INR 12000 for fuel. He added that even out of that amount, currency note amounting to INR 1500 were fake.
He further claimed that when they returned the fake currency notes to Ali, he called his friends and took them to another location where the miscreants snatched all their belongings including phone and money, and demanded a huge sum of money. He added that they were released after being beaten mercilessly.
