Directorate of Income Tax (Intelligence and Criminal Investigation), Guwahati,  in collaboration with Business Association of Nagas (BAN), organised an interactive outreach programme aimed at fostering tax awareness and promoting compliance, particularly focusing on e-Verification and statement of financial transactions (SFT) on August 11 at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur.

DIMAPUR —  Directorate of Income Tax (Intelligence and Criminal Investigation), Guwahati,  in collaboration with Business Association of Nagas (BAN), organised an interactive outreach programme aimed at fostering tax awareness and promoting compliance, particularly focusing on e-Verification and statement of financial transactions (SFT) on August 11 at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur.

An update from BAN stated that the primary objective of the programme was to empower taxpayers with a comprehensive understanding of the e-Verification scheme 2021, a critical aspect of tax compliance in the modern digital landscape.

Addressing the gathering, N Jungio, director of Income Tax (I&CI), Guwahati, articulated on the core principles and significance of the e-Verification scheme, 2021, and also shed light on the provisions of exemption Under Section 10 (26) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

He also emphasised the importance of prompt compliance with notices received from the Income Tax department and elucidated on both the potential consequences of non-compliance and the manifold benefits of timely income tax return (ITR) filing.

It stated that the event saw active participation from members of BAN, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) along with accomplished Chartered Accountants and dedicated business leaders. It added that the presence of senior officers from the department representing both Jorhat and Dimapur further provided valuable insights.

During the interactive session, participants got opportunity to seek clarifications on intricate tax-related matters. It stated that the proactive and insightful responses from the department representatives were highly appreciated by the audience.

It further mentioned that such initiatives, aimed at fostering tax awareness and providing a platform for meaningful dialogue, would significantly contribute to building a more informed and compliant taxpayer community.
