Inauguration of Nagaland’s first medical college today

KOHIMA — Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemical & Fertilizers, Dr Mansukh L Mandaviya will be inaugurating the state's first medical college, Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR), at Phriebagie Kohima today, October 14.

The union minister will unveil the monolith to be dedicated by State Chaplain Rev TW Yamyap Konyak in the presence of the state chief minister Neiphiu Rio and health minister Paiwang Konyak.

Classes for the first government medical college in Nagaland started on September 1 with an induction programme for 100 MBBS students for the first academic session 2023-24. Out of 100 students, 85 are from Nagaland (reserved) and 15 (All India Quota) are from other states including Jharkhand, Bihar, Kerala, Assam/Manipur, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.
