DIMAPUR — The inaugural ‘Strive for Excellence Youth Festival’ of Tetso College began on Monday, with Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam, president of the North East Sports Association and MLA, Government of Manipur, as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Radheshyam expressed his love for sports and maintained that competition is important, but collaboration is most important, according to a press release.

He stated that through effective collaboration, teams would become aware of the strengths and weaknesses of their members and should strive to bridge this gap by supporting the weaker ones, and vice versa. Additionally, he noted that for personal growth, it is preferable to compete with oneself rather than with others.

He further encouraged the students to laugh and be merry, emphasising that youth and energy are fleeting. He highlighted the significance of winning medals but underscored that more important than accolades is winning the hearts of others through discipline, conduct, and teamwork/collaboration.

Radheshyam urged the students to strive towards becoming happy and successful citizens and aspire to one day become ambassadors of Nagaland.

Mutuzo Vero, the general secretary of the Tetso Student Council, presided over the ceremony, while Temsu Longkumer, the coordinator of the Tetso Olympic Committee, administered the oath-taking.
