Zeena Singh For Eastern Mirror Sunday Hello folks, [dropcap]I[/dropcap]believe that life has so much to give if only we cared to give a little thought to the most minuscule of joys (which we’d find so much of) only if we’d stop looking at the looming discomforts and discontents. So here I am, to share with you the simplest joys in my life as I have experienced some time in my life and those that I take as I face each day, at a time. His Promises Her mother stood at the doorway looking at her; lifted the cradle on her head, and headed towards the cemetery. With pounding heart and trembling body she started and leapt up. Undoubtedly, this was only a bad dream!! A huge sigh of relief escaped her lips. She placed her hand on the feeble ‘thump! thump!’ - a smile reached her eyes. She whispered a prayer. Weeks led to months I was growing. Inside her. There were two of us! At the approach of week 26 trouble brewed Two and half months away and there was danger Something had to be done Soon! Three lives were in peril – Mom’s and ours They got down to work Doctors, Nurses and the Father above Mother pulled through. We were born, my twin and I Unscheduled – Premature. In low hushed voices they whispered and shook their heads at my chances of survival. I was everything a baby shouldn’t be – Undernourished, Weak, Underdeveloped, Feeble- breathed. Of us, my sister was the fitter BUT None recognised His plan, He took her home To rest there in His care While me He picked up Just as He said He would And has kept me Just as He said He would Though tending nurture and attention was demanding and exhaustive His promise held true... For which, today I stand, able to appreciate life’s simple pleasures... ...and to rest in the truth of His promise as in ISAIAH 46: 3-4 “.......................You whom I have upheld since you were conceived, And have carried you since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you “. Still standing on His Promises....... I believe He’s with me still - His Miracle! Feedback can be sent at zzeez_s@yahoo.com
