Zeena Singh For Eastern Mirror Sunday

Hello folks,

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] believe that life has so much to give if only we cared to give a little thought to the most minuscule of joys (which we’d find so much of) only if we’d stop looking at the looming discomforts and discontents.
So here I am, to share with you the simplest joys in my life as I have experienced some time in my life and those that I take as I face each day, at a time.

The Spirit of Gentleness

Is like a place of quiet in the midst of turmoil and chaos; a sense of tranquillity in disorder.
Such is the impression, the feel, in the companionship of a gentle self.
Its very presence, a balm on the wound of a hurting spirit; comforting and soothing a psyche wrecked threadbare and frayed.
Heaviest of encumbering loads are eased.
This Spirit is not a form of a weakness. It exudes total control, commanding supremacy and dominance over uncontrollable pandemonium.
It subtly holds sway over thoughts turned awry.
Transitory spells of relief are possibly obtained through innumerable means yet they’re but fleeting.
The Spirit of Gentleness effects tenderness, humanity, peacefulness, which in turn begets confirmed lasting happiness.
Once too often, in my moments of distress I have sought refuge amid possessions and those significant in my life and I have been able to throw my cares to the wind, however, briefly.
Today as I construct my thoughts onto paper, I affirm that I have begun to recognise the real Spirit of Gentleness and am learning (still underway) to wholly lean on the truth given in Psalm 46: 10 in which it says – “ Be still and know that I am God…”
Being Still.. as given in the dictionary is to be free of Noise and Turbulence.. to be Untroubled.
The following synonyms further emphasise it as – Calm – a state of tranquillity; Peaceful- untroubled by conflict; devoid of force; Placid- serenely free of interruption or disturbance; Restful – being at rest; Quiet- Gentle; Tranquil- free from agitation of mind or spirit.
I accept that the greatest Spirit of Gentleness fits the descriptions given, and if I can lean on Him, confidently trusting that He is in control, I cannot and need not be perturbed, but experience the Spirit of Gentleness that is conferred from Him upon me.
Isaiah 30 : 15 – “ For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “ In returning and rest you shall be saved: in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”…
