The central government extended the lock down by another two weeks after a comprehensive review, as the globe is at a critical stage in its fight against Corona Virus. Experts have warned that India’s healthcare system may not be able to cope with a massive outbreak if proper measures are not taken in a fast track manner. India has only 0.5 hospital beds per 1,000 people and one doctor for every 1457 people, according to the organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the economic survey of India 2019-20. In spite of all the odds, healthcare workers, police personal, law making bodies and many others are doing the round tirelessly in order to provide humanitarian aid, medical support and to keep us safe in this hour of crises. However to our utter dismay, these frontline workers who are serving us by putting their lives at risk in the fight against the Covid-19 are bearing the brunt of discrimination and harassment on account of misinformation and illiteracy about the outbreak. Most people are failing to understand that discriminating and harassing the frontline workers across the country are only weakening our fight against Covid-19, endangering our entire population. As the number of Covid -19 cases keep rising, it is not only important for the government to take active measures but the public too. People must support and respect the frontline workers by strictly adhering to the guidelines issued by the health ministry and expert bodies, cross-check any information related to the Covid-19 on the social media before sharing and most importantly create a sense of safety and security to all the front line workers through our utmost cooperation. One must appreciate their sacrifices and understand that those frontline workers have families too, worrying for their safety every moment. I salute, thank and appreciate to all the frontline workers for your selfless sacrifices and services for our safety. May the good Lord continue to bless each one of you.

Yours faithfully
