Imphal to host Global Youth Meet in Feb

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Club 25 International Manipur unit, a voluntary blood donation campaigner body and its associates are all set to organise the Global Youth Meet (GYM) 2014 from February 20-25 next. The main venues of the meet will be Manipur University and Classic Hotel.
This is one of the first meets of global youths not only in Manipur but also in India, Organising secretary K Karnajit Singh of GYM 2014 said.More than 500 youth from 106 countries across the world will be arriving in Imphal to attend the GYM where five awards namely Global Youth Awards, Best Presenter Award, the Club 25 International Award, Best Participant Award and Best Young Blood Donor International Award will be presented. Union Human Resources Minister Palam Raju will also attend the meet.
The accommodation of the visiting global youth have been arranged at all the available rooms of hotels and guest houses in and around Imphal, Karnajit added.
The organizers are also expecting to strengthen new global network of young people across the world empowered to share experiences and save lives besides reducing the sufferings as the outcome of the meet.
As part of the forthcoming GYM, a formal official launching of website www.globalyouthmeet.com, T-shirts, bags, green dairy and leaflets was held at the Classic hotel in Imphal today.
Manipur Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister AK Mirabai, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Affairs and Sports (Tourism) Mairembam Prithiviraj Singh, The Club 25 International Manipur chairman Kangujam Mangi Singh , former planning director besides director of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Manipur Dr N Surjitkumar attended the launching session.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Mirabai highlighted the role of youths in building a society in the country. Parliamentary Secretary Prithviraj and others also spoke on the occasion which was attended by many prominent youth of the state. Olympic medalist boxer MC Mary Kom of Manipur would be the ambassador of the forthcoming meet.
