Imphal crime beat: suicide, murder marks Tuesday

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a shocking incident, a teenage girl and her elder brother has committed suicide in Manipur. The incident took place after one Khoirom Ibomcha (26) of Yairipok Bamon Leikai in Manipur’s Thoubal district, reportedly scolded his 18 year old younger sister Rebita alias Inaobi, a class XI student in Thoubal Somorendro Sana Royal Higher Secondary School, on Monday morning.Ibomcha, who left for Khwairamband Bazar to collect goods for his hardware store at Yairipok Bazar, was informed about his sister’s suicide around 9.30 am the same morning, police sources said.
Since then whereabouts of Ibomcha was not known as his mobile could not be reachable. Later he was found hanging with his own sportswear shirt at an uninhabited area of Lilong Laihoukhong Lou Taret under Lilong police station the following day.
“We recovered the dead body with a mobile phone from the spot”, says a police officer of Lilong Police staton when contacted on phone.
The body has been sent for autopsy and further investigation (by forensic experts).” A case has been registered.
Wife charged with killing husband
A woman ahas been in arrested in Imphal on charges of murdering her husband. The housewife, Asem Ongbi Sushilla Devi, is said to have stabbed her drunkard husband to death with a knife following a heated argument at Haotal Thangjam Khounou in Manipur’s Heingang police police station under Imphal East district on Monday evening, sources said.
Locals said that the deceased husband, a Herojit, said to be a habitual drunkard, used to quarrel with his accused wife frequently. Sushilla has surrendered to the police.
The remains of the deceased has been handed over to the family members after conducting post mortem at the JNIMS Morgue in Imphal on Tuesday afternoon.
