DIMAPUR — Immanuel College, Dimapur, hosted a public demonstration of 5G use cases on Monday, showcasing innovations developed by students, startups, and innovators.
The event was part of the project “Deepening of Scientific Research on 5G Use Cases for Solving Challenges of Society”, funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, implemented by North East Region Community Resource Management Society, and conducted in collaboration with Amantya Technologies, stated a press release.
The chief guest, Dr. Soumya Chakraborty, director-cum-dean, Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Society, Kohima, in her keynote, addressed the ethical aspects in the application of 5G and AI, the opportunities and challenges in their utilisation, and emphasised the untapped potential of the northeastern states as a hub for technological innovation.

Guest speaker Raj Narula, founder and CEO of InCa Synergies, shared entrepreneurial insights, stressing the importance of communication, networking, teamwork, and strategies to monetise innovative ideas by presenting them as solutions for societal challenges.
Student teams and innovators showcased their prototypes and working solutions, reflecting the wide potential of 5G applications across sectors.
A lab tour allowed participants to experience the infrastructure firsthand, while the networking session encouraged collaboration among students, startups, and industry representatives.
It was mentioned that the 5G Lab at Immanuel College is among the first in India and represents a milestone for technology education in Nagaland. It provides a platform for nurturing innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and preparing the youth to contribute to India’s digital future.
