Nagaland Election 2023: Imkong L Imchen resigns from NLA
Imchen expresses interest to contest Assembly election 2023 on BJP ticket
Sitting MLA Imkong L Imchen tendered his resignation from the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, citing “personal ground” to the Secretary of Nagaland Legislative Assembly Kohima, on January 20.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Imchen confirmed that he is going to contest the upcoming state Assembly election; and expressed interest to contest the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from BJP ticket.
He, however, mentioned that the BJP party has not yet issued any confirmation ticket to him.
Imchen added that even if he does not get the BJP ticket, he would still contest the election and would be part of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Imkong L Imchen contested the 2018 State Assembly election from 28 Koridang A/C in Naga People’s Front (NPF) ticket defeating T Chalukumba Ao with a margin of 128 votes, before joining the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) earlier this year.
Imchen has won the 28 Koridang A/C four consecutive times from 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018. He won the 2003 State Assembly election as an independent candidate and won the remaining three elections on NPF ticket.
