IMD forecasts heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning across Nagaland and Northeast states, with weather alerts through June 28

KOHIMA — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall across the Northeastern states during June 22-28, with Nagaland likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall on June 23 and again during June 26-28.
In an update issued on Monday, the IMD said isolated thunderstorms and lightning are also likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till June 26.
The department forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh till June 28; Assam and Meghalaya during June 24-28; and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on June 23 and during June 26-28. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Assam and Meghalaya on June 23.
According to the district-wise forecast for Nagaland, all districts are likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning and squally weather on June 23 and 24.
On June 25, similar conditions are expected in Tuensang, Kiphire and Kohima districts. Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and squally weather is likely in Kohima and Tuensang districts on June 26, while Kiphire is expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning and squally weather.
