Dimapur, July 5 (EMN): State forest minister, Imkong L Imchen, has resented portraying politicians as ‘chor and corrupt’ and termed as ‘unfortunate and uncalled for.’
Reacting sharply to local newspapers report, Imkong said those who called politicians as chor and corrupt need to substantiate their statement. He said there may be “inherent weaknesses and issues” which need to be addressed but attacking politicians in such an undemocratic manner was totally uncalled for.”
“I don’t stop our educated boys and girls, our future leaders to attack us and criticise us when we failed to rise up to the occasion, but we elected members who have been serving the people to the best of their ability to see them progress do not deserve such undemocratic criticism,” the minister said adding “I have never taken anything belonging to our young boys and girls.”
The minister said while addressing the monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) in the ADC (Planning) conference hall on July 5.
The minister said that elected members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly are ‘not sleeping but awake and aware of the prevailing situation.’
He deeply regretted that attacking in such a way will not help Nagas to progress.
