Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): Opposition MLA from 28 Koridang assembly constituency, Imkong L Imchen has alleged step-motherly treatment on the people of his constituency in the distribution of relief materials during the lockdown period.

In a statement issued on Friday, Imchen claimed that 28 Koridang AC is the biggest constituency under Mokokchung district with 95% rural population having poor economic foundations. He expressed dismay at the response of the state and district authorities, who allegedly said that there was no government policy to help and assist the public except the migrant workers when he inquired about the scope of providing help and assistance to his constituency.

Under the given circumstances, Imchen stated that he decided to organise ways and means to help his people in his own capacity. Besides extending financial assistance to all the village councils in his constituency, he also received 50 litre of hand sanitiser from minister and president of Nagaland BJP Temjen Imna Along.

Imchen also stated that he received 500 quintal of rice from Pukhayi Sumi, advisor of Food and Civil Supplies, at a rate of INR 12.50 per kg for distribution. He questioned as to why 28 Koridang AC was kept outside the purview of government’s decision and action while the rest of the state has received help and assistance.
