Mokokchung, Sep. 13 (EMN): Ten teams from Mokokchung, Dimapur and Zunheboto will be participating in the 14th edition of the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2019, scheduled to be held from September 17 to the 20th, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Mokokchung.
The organisers, Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) in a press conference held at Mokokchung Channel Hall announced that the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy is one of the most popular tournament and amongst the highest paid trophies in the state.
Apart from cash prizes for the champions, runners-up and two semi-finalist team, the MDVA also awards three individual prizes including best spiker, best setter and player of the tournament, they informed.
The organisers said that each participating team are given match allowances so as to encourage the young players from the state. The MDVA also confirmed that 10 teams will be participating at this year’s edition including two teams from Dimapur and Zunheboto.
The organisers further stated that Imchaba Masters Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy is the only trophy played in carpet with digital counting of points which was introduced in 2016. They also said that the organisation has been successful in providing job opportunities to exceptional players in the field of sports through this tournament.
The tournament will begin at 4 pm on September 17.
