Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): The Ikiye-Itovi Youth Front (IIYF) expressed disappointment on the pathetic condition of Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Satoi under Satakha sub-division in Zunheboto district.
The matter came to light when four persons including a pastor and women pastress of Itovi village were brought to PHC Satoi for availing first aid following a vehicular accident between Itovi and Ikiye village on February 20.
“It is shocking to learn that none of the healthcare workers such as doctors or nurses were present and except for one lady, a proxy in-charge, was stationed at PHC, Satoi,” IIYF president Kavi Awomi and the general secretary Abel Achumi alleged. It added that not even wokadine medicine and single dose of tetanus toxoid (TT) injunction were made available.
IIYF also stated that owing to total lack of infrastructure, medical facilities and irregularities of medical doctors and staff posted at PHC Satoi, the patients were shifted to Zunheboto.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, IIYF appealed to the competent authority of Health and Family Welfare and the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto, to initiate stern action against all the erring healthcare workers and make necessary arrangements by allotting medical requirements as per PHC provisions for public safety and security and carry out physical inspection within 24 hours. It also urged the administration of the Satoi block to look after the public affairs in the public interest.
In the event of failing to meet the demands, IIYF warned that it would leave no stone unturned and invite strict legal actions against the concerned department. IIYF further wished a speedy recovery to all the victims.
