DIMAPUR — With an objective to train and equip church leaders in Christian counselling to become effective gatekeepers of congregants’ mental health and emotional well-being, the Insight Institute of Christian Counseling (IICC) at 6th Mile, Sovima, conducted a three-day training on ‘Introduction to Christian counselling” from August 8 to the 10th.

An update from IICC stated that a total of 13 trainees from different churches including pastors, women pastors, youth pastors, and children’s ministry workers attended the 4th batch training programme.

The aim of the training was to impart self-awareness and personal development, basic counselling skills, integrating Christian and secular counselling, skills for identifying clients’ issues and referral skills.

The founders of IICC namely Dr. Yehoto Swu Kiho and Dr. Nighatoli P Achumi were the resource persons.

The training was practical-oriented by engaging the trainees through self-awareness and personality development assessments, role-plays, case discussions, peer counselling, active interactive classroom participation and homework, which was also why IICC focuses on small group intake. IICC expressed hope that the trainees would make a positive impact in their respective ministry fields through the training.
