MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 25: Keeping in view the needs, interest and aptitude of students to seek greater fullness in life, deeper understanding and the art of knowing themselves on all levels, the 7th edition of ‘Spiritual Awakening,’ an annual event of Imsutemjen Higher Secondary School (IHSS) in Mokokchung was held on September 23 and 24 on the theme ‘Reveal.’
The Spiritual Awakening programme was held in the school campus and Taochi Ki Changki Fellowship with Alemla Apong and Temsutoshi Longkumer from the Children Evangelism Foundation as the main speakers.
It may be mentioned here that Imsutemjen Higher Secondary School has been providing spiritual education along with secular education for the past 6 years.
The school chairman, Shenden, said the retreat is held every year as part of school activities separately for senior students, faculty and junior students. He said the main purpose of the retreat is to produce good citizens with sound character.
Stating that such activities create an environment for the students to grow, he asserted that relationship between the students and teachers is much better because of this spiritual activity.
It may also be mentioned here that Reveal-I Junior comprising from Class I-VII were given graduation certificate with salvation assurance and prayer.
“We can see the change in them at the schools and back home. The bitterness and hatred against the teacher are resolved during the retreat,” Shenden said. He also asserted that the retreat is a platform where students can share their problems, in which teachers encourage and show the students the right direction.
