IGAR (N) organises ‘Run for fit India’

Dimapur, Sep. 27 (EMN): Emphasising on the need for leading a fit and healthy lifestyle and in sync with the ‘Fit India campaign’ launched by the Government of India on August 29 on the occasion of the National Sports Day, IGAR (N) conducted a four 4 km run on September 27 from BOC to Jotsoma on the theme ‘Run for fit India.’

According to a defence release, the run was an endeavour to engage the community to participate in a healthy lifestyle practices and the importance of regular physical activity in staying fit and healthy.

Altogether, 95 individuals comprising all ranks have participated enthusiastically in the event.

A similar event is being organised on September 28 for all ranks and their families as well as children stationed in Kohima garrison.

In another programme, Zunheboto battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a rally on the theme ‘Plastic free India’ in Zunheboto town on September 27.

Students of Assam Rifle Public School raised slogans against plastic use for bringing about a pollution free environment. The students also took pledge to curb use of plastic in all form and to make India plastic-free.

Biodegradable paper bags were also distributed to residents. Altogether, 31 students and seven teachers participated in the rally.
