IGAR (N) celebrates ‘International Yoga Day’

Assam Rifles personnel perform yoga on the occasion of 6th ‘International Yoga Day’ on June 21.

Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): Battalions of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) headquarters celebrated the 6th ‘International Day of Yoga’ on June 21 with enthusiastic participation from troops and their families on the theme ‘Yoga at home and Yoga with family.’

A press release stated that a briefing on the significance of yoga day was also covered wherein it was emphasised that the age-old practice of yoga is the way ahead even for security forces to develop mental strength and physical fitness, as well as to ensure a healthy and stress-free environment.

HQ 5 Sector

To spread awareness on yoga as part of life to maintain health and fitness, 5 Sector Assam Rifles battalion headquarters also celebrated the 6th International Day of Yoga.

The report stated that troops and families of Assam Rifles practiced various yoga exercises and asanas in their homes by following strict social distancing norms. It stated that 1068 personnel comprising of all ranks from various battalion headquarters and company operating bases along with 49 families and 56 children participated in the programme.

HQ 6 Sector

Battalions of 6 Sector Assam Rifles headquarters also celebrated the day with the objective of improving health and well-being of troops including families and children.

It stated that all the personnel performed yoga in their respective barracks and family quarters. A total of 2000 personnel comprising 500 families and 150 children participated in the event.

HQ 7 Sector

Battalions of 7 Sector Assam Rifles headquarters observed ‘Yoga Day,’ keeping in line with the national effort to promote yoga for healthy living.
Keeping in view the yearly theme of “Yoga at home and yoga with family,” the exercise was organised in barracks, posts and in quarters. A total of 2750 including Assam Rifles personnel, families and children participated in the yoga sessions.
