DIMAPUR — Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), in collaboration with MMB Cyber School, a non-profit society dedicated to cyber safety advocacy, conducted an awareness programme on cyber security at Bloom Bazaar in Kohima on November 4.
An update from IDAN stated Limasenla Moa and Vizotuo Sothu, who were the guest speakers, underscored the paramount importance of cyber security in this digital driven world. They shed light on common threats often underestimated by users such as scams and online frauds, cyber bullying, online information sharing, slow system behavior, unexpected pop ups, unusual error messages, and the premature drainage of device batteries.
It stated that the speakers explored everyday practices in the cyber world including information sharing, online purchases and sales, and viewing inappropriate content.
It added that the speakers delved into the grave issue of cyber bullying and the various forms of cyber bullying such as outing, impersonation, stalking, and harassment and also highlighted the emotional and physical toll those actions could take on victims.
It stated that participants received valuable insights into the risks associated with those activities and gained a deeper understanding of the need for vigilance. It further added that the participants left the event with a heightened awareness of the potential consequences and how to safeguard themselves against cyber bullying.

The event was organised with a broader goals of promoting digital literacy, awareness and safe online practices, which are pivotal components of modern government systems.
It mentioned that Bloom Bazaar, an initiative of IDAN, is a 30-week event hosted every Friday and Saturday at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow in Kohima, which began on September 29. Its primary purpose was to promote the floriculture industry of Nagaland while providing a platform for local flower growers and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and boost their businesses.
