ICFAI Nagaland initiates Kairos lecture series

DIMAPUR — School of Social Sciences and School of Humanities of ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN) began its bi-monthly Kairos lecture series on September 26.

An update from the university stated that Kairos lecture series is an academic talk series where lecturers from different department of the university would deliver talk. The objective of the lecture series was to create, nurture and encourage a dynamic academic environment among students, to enable them to think critically and be acquainted with topics from other departments.

It stated that topics of Kairos lecture series would include issues relevant to contemporary society drawn from subject related to respective departments.

The first lecture was delivered by Rovikoto Yhoshu, head of Philosophy department, on the topic ‘The problem of free will.’

In continuation with the lecture series, Dr. Kikarenla Jamir, assistant professor of English department, spoke on “Bridging the gap through soft skills: From classroom to the workplace” on October 3. She stressed on the importance of using soft skills as a professional and academic ability to enhance good proficiency skills.

It stated that her presentation ended as a reminder to the students to enable their soft skills not only as a part of their personality development but also a step towards professional and personal success. Dr. Kikarenla concluded her presentation by asserting that “Soft skills are not fixed traits but rather abilities that can be cultivated and honed throughout life through conscious effort.”
