ICAR sensitises intellectual property rights

Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): Intellectual Property and Technology Management Unit (ITMU) of ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, has organised a one-day workshop on “Intellectual property rights (IPR)” on January 16 with Amrita Mazumdar, patent attorney, and S Majumdar from Kolkata as the resource persons.

The workshop was organised as a part of the capacity building activity with the objectives to educate and to create awareness about IPR issues among the scientific community, an update from ICAR stated on Friday.

During the workshop, Mazumdar delivered a series of lectures elaborating on the basics of intellectual property rights and made a detailed deliberation on different aspects of IPR namely copyright, design and patent. Besides, there was an interactive session to discuss the procedure of patent filing and submission of the application to the national biodiversity authority (NBA).

A total of 44 persons including staff and scientists of ICAR-NRC on Mithun and Nagaland Centre of ICAR Research Complex of NEHR, Medziphema; faculty from the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, CAU, Jalukie; and SASRD Nagaland University, Medziphema; attended the workshop.

It further added that Dr Jayanta Kumar Chamuah, in-charge of ITMU, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, coordinated the event.
