Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): Chairman of Research Advisory Committee (RAC) Dr. Dharmeswar Das, while appreciating the efforts of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR)- National Research Centre on Mithun, emphasised on the need to prioritise research areas and further urged to take up research projects to delineate the uniqueness of Mithun.
Dr. Dharmeswar Das said this in his opening remark at the 10th Research Advisory Meeting of ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, held on May 2.
During the programme, Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, presented brief account of the progress made by the Institute during the last one year.
The Committee members visited the Mithun farm at Medziphema and taken an account of the farm activities. The Committee members also lauded the effort of ICAR-NRCM for the implementation of artificial insemination (AI) in the Institute Mithun farm. During the last one year, 11 calves were born in the farm through artificial insemination.
The meeting was attended by RAC chairman Dr. Dharmeswar Das; Dr. RS Gandhi, ADG (AP & B), ICAR, New Delhi; Dr. Kusumakar Sharma, former ADG; Dr. KK Baruah, former Director, NRC on Yak; Dr. A Chakravarty, Director Research, CV Sc, Khanapara; IMC members Jaangsillung Gonmei and Lachit Kachari; and all the scientists of the Institute. The vote of thanks was delivered by member secretary Dr. Nazrul Haque.
