Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): As part of ‘Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari’ campaign, the ICAR-National Research Centre (NRC) on Mithun organised “Discourse on Agro-Ecological and Livestock Practices” on April 28.

The campaign, which is a flagship programme of the central government’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration, aimed to educate the rural farmers on integration of agriculture and livestock farming, an update informed.

It said that Dr. Meraj Haider Khan, director ICAR-NRC, emphasised on how to establish small livestock enterprises and integrate them with agriculture. He elaborated on utilisation of opportunities to establish markets and agri start-ups in Nagaland. The director further urged the participants to take up market linkage activities that facilitate trade relationships between the target population or “clients”, small producers, local firms/cooperatives and the external market.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nazrul Haque, principal scientist, presented on preservation of fodders and Dr. L Sunitibala Devi, emphasised on Mithun farming.

It added that quality protein maize and fodder maize seeds were distributed to 14 farmers, who attended the programme.
