ICAR-NRC conducts training on AI in mithun

Zoology students of Patkai Christian College during the training on ‘Reproductive management and artificial insemination in mithun under TSP’ at ICAR-NRC on Mithun.

Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Research Centre (ICAR-NRC) on Mithun conducted a three-day training programme on ‘Reproductive management and artificial insemination in mithun under TSP’ from September 26 to the 28th for 3rd semester zoology students of Patkai Christian College.

An update informed that the training was intended to provide students with the fundamental knowledge to understand and manage an “effective Mithun or dairy reproductive programme.”

In the inaugural programme, director of ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Dr. MH Khan, motivated the students to take the advantage to learn to the optimum so that in future they get ample opportunities to work in organised farms.

The vice principal of Patkai Christian College, Angel Sonari, thanked the institute for providing such trainings on regular basis.

The training programme conducted various theory and practical classes on anatomy and physiology of the reproductive tract of mithun, pregnancy diagnosis, care and management of pregnant animals, selection of mithun or dairy animals, and many other topics.

In the closing ceremony, certificates were awarded to the students. Principal Scientist (AN), ICAR-NRC, Nazrul Haque, encouraged the students to look for opportunities in both agriculture and animal husbandry sectors.
