ICAR KVK Longleng trains 27 youth in piggery
DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng conducted a five-day skill development training programme on ‘Piggery for Entrepreneurship Development’ for rural youth from February 1 to 5 at the KVK office in Longleng.
According to an update, the topics covered during the training included breed selection, selection of breeding stock, general management, sanitation, scientific housing and feeding, disease management, economic livelihood, integrated farming systems, and challenges in pig farming.
It was conducted by Dr. Lily Ngullie, assistant chief technical officer (ACTO), KVK, and the resource person was Lochumbeni Shitiri, assistant professor, department of Economics, Yingli College, Longleng.
The valedictory programme was attended by Dr. H C Kalita, senior scientist-cum-head, KVK Longleng, who encouraged the participants to take up piggery for sustainable livelihood and income generation.
The programme concluded with the distribution of completion certificates. In total, 27 rural youth took part in the training.
