ICAR-KVK Dimapur conducted training and demonstrations on Jeevamrit preparation and scientific paddy cultivation in Khriezephe.

DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, organised a day-long demonstration programme on scientific paddy cultivation and natural farming practices at the Natural Farming Model Demonstration Unit in Khriezephe village, Chümoukedima, on Wednesday.
Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK Dimapur, Dr. Phool Kumari, on the occasion highlighted the extension, training, and technology dissemination activities undertaken by the KVK for the farming community.
She pointed out the importance of adopting sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices to improve productivity while conserving natural resources, stated an update.
As part of the natural farming demonstration, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (ACTO) of Plant Protection, E Lireni Kikon, trained the participants in the preparation of Jeevamrit, a microbial culture prepared from locally available natural ingredients that enhances soil microbial activity and improves soil health.

A practical session on seedling treatment of paddy using Jeevamrit solution at a dilution of 1:10 was also conducted before transplanting to promote healthy root development and improve crop vigour.
The technical demonstration on the scientific method of line transplanting in paddy was conducted by the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Plant Breeding Dr. Bendangla Imsong. She explained its advantages in ensuring proper plant spacing, better crop management, improved aeration, and enhanced yield.
Farmers were encouraged to adopt line transplanting as an effective practice for increasing productivity and facilitating intercultural operations.
It was mentioned that the interactive programme provided farmers with hands-on experience in sustainable paddy cultivation techniques.
