IMPHAL, October 31: Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on Monday said Jiribam has enough infrastructures like a district. However, he did not elaborate on it, according to reports. The Jiribam district demand committee, a Jiribam based body, has been demanding to upgrade Jiribam into a full- fledged revenue district due to its geographical location and lack of adequate infrastructures. Chief Minister Ibobi was speaking at the inaugural function of a 50 bed hospital at Ningshing khul in the Jiribam, which is a sub-divisional headquarters bordering Assam’s Cachar district, the report said. Ibobi accompanied by the Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Health minister DK Korungthang, Education minister Dr. Kh Ratankumar, Chairman of Hills Area Committee Dr. Chaltonlien Amo and Planning and Development Authority Chairman Tongbam Mangibabu inaugurated four projects. The newly inaugurated projects included multi-utility market complex at Babupara, Sports complex at Bidyanagar, Subsidiary police training centre at Jarolpokpi and Jakuradhor police station at Borobekra, all under Jiribam areas. During the day’s visit, Ibobi also assured that Jiribam aided college and Sorok Atingbi aided high school will be recognised by the government.
