Huge quantities of arms, ammunition recovered in Assam

PTI GUWAHATI, JUNE 23 Huge quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered during a search operation by the security forces in Assam’s Goalpara district on Tuesday. Acting on intelligence inputs about the presence of ULFA and GNLA militants, a joint team of the army and police launched the search operation at Gosaigadhowa area of the district this morning, a defence spokesman said.Security personnel searched a house where they suspected the militants to be hiding and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. The recovered items included two hand grenades, a Chinese grenade, a gelatin stick, a TNT slab, three 7.65 mm pistol and medicines, the spokesman said.
