Chinese tech gaint Huawei on Monday said that it is all set to launch the next iteration of its proprietary operating system HarmonyOS on July 27.
Two years after it released the HarmonyOS 2 for a variety of products in September 2020, the Shenzen-based telecom and consumer electronics company has confirmed through its official Weibo account that the official launch of the next-generation HarmonyOS 3 will take place on July 27.
The company had already released the developer beta version a month ago. The beta OS reportedly supported devices like the P50 series, the Mate 40 series, and the MatePad Pro 12.6-inch 2021 model.

HarmonyOS, also known as HongMeng OS in Chinese, is Huawei’s in-house operating system that was created as an alternative to Google’s Android OS. In 2019, the company was forced to use its own OS after all of its devices lost Google support following a blanket ban imposed by the US government.
According to multiple reports, the number of devices running HarmonyOS exceeds 300 million, including more than 200 million Huawei devices and another 100 million third-party devices.
Aside from the new OS, Huawei is also gearing up to launch a host of new products including its first Smart TV powered by HarmonyOS 3, Huawei Free Buds Pro 2 headphones, MateBook X Pro, MatePad Pro 11 and Huawei Enjoy 50 Pro.
