Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): The Hindu Seva Samiti (HSS), Dimapur, has extended Durga Puja and Shub Vijaya Dashami greetings to all citizens laid down some rules and guidelines to be followed for smooth celebration of Durga Puja, a festival which symbolises victory of good over evil.
The HSS requested all puja committees to perform the pujas in true religious spirit. It has appealed to maintain proper discipline and decorum at all cost so that the image of Hindu faith is held high.
“All puja pandals should be erected in such a way that they do not disturb public thoroughfare and pandals should display posters and banners on the theme of ‘Clean Dimapur, Green Dimapur, Save Energy,’ it stated.
HSS also reminded that loud speakers should be played in such a way that they do not disturb the neighbourhood and general public and that, by any cost, the sound system should be off by 10 pm.
All puja committees have been requested to keep a strict vigil to prevent and ban consumption of alcohol during the days of puja and immersion functions. It also insisted that only devotional songs and music should be played in the puja pandals.
All puja committees have been requested to keep a strict vigil on unclaimed articles like bag, cartoon etc., lying in or around the puja pandals. If found, they must immediately inform the police station concerned to avoid any untoward incident, it stated.
In order to control the river pollution, all puja committee are requested not to bring any type of waste along with the ldols. As per the advice of the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, it stated all should co-operate with them in keeping the Dhansiri River free from pollution.
Besides, all puja committees have been requested to control their own members and prevent scuffles with other puja committee or general public.
“Immersion is a solemn ceremony so strict discipline and religious decorum should be maintained and as well avoid such actions by which the religious sentiments of other communities may hurt,” it stated.
Further, all puja committees are to co-operate with the district administration, police, Dimapur Municipal Council and Hindu Seva Samiti to ensure a smooth and joyous conduct of the pujas and immersion, it added.
